Does anyone use the model with the removable plates? I've found some real mixed reviews. Some say the plates don't fit well, uneven heating, and the non-stick is crap.

What are your thoughts? I always thought I'd like the removable plates, so much easier to clean!

i have the hamilton beach brand which i like much better than my previously owned foreman. i didn't have the removable plates on my forman, but i remember the non stic, not being so great. plus the hamilton beach version, the grease tray slides into place instead of just sitting under the hole. so it is not so easy to bump and make a mess. you can check them out at www.hamiltonbeach.com i believe.

I have probably one of the tiniest little Georges you can get. Its a really cute oval shape grill, measuring oo, about 40 Cm in length, 30 Cm width across the mercifully, removable plates. You just release these 4 clips top and bottom at either end to release the plates from the fixed elements underneath then litterally, chuck 'em in the washing up bowl to soak when they get particularly greasy or filfthy. You don't even have to set the time or anything on this baby, you just plug it in, switch it on at the wall and off you go. Operates just like a sandwich toaster and takes roughly the same time a sandwich toaster takes to heat up.

we had the hamilton brand until last year when we got the foreman with removeable plates, for a wedding present. the hamilton works great. but I love the foreman with removable plates. it's so much easier just to cook, rinse the plates then throw them in the dishwasher. it cooks the same, and is easey to clean. The plates fit and stay on fine. I don't have any problems with mine. it's awesome. i would recommend it.

Wow, I forgot I created this topic!

We ended up getting the George, because of a gift card at target.

It is the smaller model with one set of removable plates. So far so good! Seems to cook evenly and the plates were easier to clean.

I believe they are dish washer safe, if you use a gell or liquid dish washer detergent, but I think I'll stick to hand washing them.

Maybe next time around, we'll get the hamilton beach model. It did look good!
